I really enjoyed this book, the store of one man's inner journey when struggling with career issues and identity issues when he has no job. By the end he finally realizes he needs to work at any job just to pay the bills. Talk about coming down from the ivory tower of academia! Anyway, I recommend this book.

I was angry with the way this man faced unemployment. I was uninspired by his tale until the last chapters of the book when he finally seemed to "get it". In reading his transition, I realized many people probably face unemployment with the same stubborn attitude.

A memoir on a life lost and regained through reevaluating what is necessary in life.

This book changed my outlook on the pursuit of "happiness." The author was a professor of English, married with 3 children and another on the way when he lost his job. After a long and fruitless search for a comparable job, he was finally reduced to doing manual labor to keep his family fed. He came away from the experience a much wiser man. Definitely worth the time, particularly if you're concerned about our society's obsession with material success.
