Book Description:
Living in peaceful Shady Vale, Shea Ohmsford knew little of the troubles that plagued the rest of the world. Then the giant, forbidding Allanon revaled that the supposedly dead Warlock Lord was plotting to destory the world. The sole weapon against this Power of Darkness was the Sword of Shannara, which could only be used by a true heir of Shannara--Shea being the last of the bloodline, upon whom all hope rested. Soon a Skull Bearer, dread minion of Evil, flew into the Vale, seeking to destroy Shea. To save the Vale, Shea fled, drawing the Skull Bearer after him....

I always wanted to read this book, but I thought I'd missed my chance. Finally found it on PBS, and now I'm looking for the rest of the series. A fantasy classic.
Crystal E. (A great escape read, perfect for teens and older who enjoy fantasy without too much intensity.
A bit long-winded, stumbling and halting in some places for me -- Brooks has a tendancy to go over things a bit too much, in my opinion. A very well written book, however, and I would definately recommend it to any serious science fiction lovers. It has all the makings of an epic :)
Great story.....can't wait to read others in the series. This book has a different cover than pictured.

Never read it, but I think any fantasy reader would like it.
