Book Description:
The third book in The Vampire Chronicles, Queen of the Damned, follows three parallel storylines.

The rock star Vampire Lestat prepares for a concert in San Francisco, unaware that hundreds of vampires will be among the fans that night and that they are committed to destroying him for risking exposing them all.

The sleep of a group of men and women, vampires and mortals, around the world is disturbed by a mysterious dream of red-haired twins who suffer an unspeakable tragedy. The dreamers, as if pulled, move toward each other, the nightmare becoming clearer the closer they get. Some die on the way, some live to face they terrifying fate their pilgrimage is building to.

Lestat's journey to a cavern deep beneath a Greek Island on his quest for the origins of the vampire race awakened Akasha, Queen of the Damed and mother of all vampires, from her 6,000 year sleep. Awake and angry, Akasha plans to save mankind from itself by elevating herself and her chosen son/lover to the level of the gods.

As these three threads wind seamlessly together, the origins and culture of vampires are revealed, as is the length and breadth of their effect on the mortal world. The threads are brought together in the twentieth century when the fate of the living and the living dead is rewritten.

The third book in Anne Rice's Vampire Chronicles deals with philosophies of heaven and earth, god and the devil and the true nature of our favorite vampire, Lestat.

Third in the series. Plenty of fodder for Rice fans.

Akasha, the Queen herself, who has risen from a six-thousand year sleep to let loose the powers of the night, dazzles in this mesmeric storytelling. Akasha has a devious plan to "save" mankind and destroy Lestat--in this extraordinarily sensual novel of the complex, erotic, electrifying world of the undead.

Anne Rice is one of only a handful of authors who's imagination has no limit. I love how she revisits the same characters throughout her other books. I enjoyed Interview witht the Vampire and the Vampire Lestat just slightly more than the Queen of the Damned, b/c I think the story of the twins was dragged on just a little longer than necessary. But still a wonderful book. I plan to read many more of her titles.

Did you ever wonder where all those mischievous vampires roaming the globe in Anne Rice's Vampire Chronicles came from? In this, the third book in the series, we find out. That raucous rock-star vampire Lestat interrupts the 6,000-year slumber of the mama of all bloodsuckers, Akasha, Queen of the Damned.
Akasha was once the queen of the Nile (she has a bit in common with the Egyptian goddess Isis), and it's unwise to rile her now that she's had 60 centuries of practice being undead. She is so peeved about male violence that she might just have to kill most of them. And she has her eye on handsome Lestat with other ideas as well.

I enjoyed this one much more than the _The Vampire Lestat_. Perhaps because there was a great deal more action, or perhaps because there were more familiar characters.
The different voices throughout the book were very interesting and I must admit that I enjoyed the others more than Lestat.
It would be, however, impossible not reading this back-to-back with _The Vampire Lestat_, as they flow together rather seamlessly. And while I am curious as to what happens next (and I do have the next book) I think I need to take a bit of a break, as the sections that move slowly, absolutely drag on and I don't really have the stamina for that right now.

This is book 3 in Anne Rice's Vampire Chronicles. I loved this book just a little more than I loved The Vampire Lestat. I think I enjoyed this one more because there was far more action, and more vampires were introduced into the story.

This is book three in the Vampire Chronicles that began with Lestat and Interview With The Vampire. I loved this series of books. The Queen of the Damned is Akasha, the root of all evil. She is a terrifying character. There is a bit of the occult, a bit of mythology and a bit of Egyptian history all combined to make a fascinating, imaginative read. This is a sultry novel with erotica and violence. Not for young readers.

The third novel in the Chronicles of the Vampires trilogy, The Queen of the Damned takes readers back 6,000 years to the beginnings of vampirism and leads them across the vast, richly detailed tapestry of the violent and sensual world of vampiredom, finally bringing forth the 20th-century fate of the living dead.
