Book Description:
"Expertly crafted, ingenious and absorbing." The Philadelphia Inquirer.

The #1 Bestseller by the author of "Jurassic Park." As he did in "Rising Sun," Crichton focuses on a topic as close as today's newspaper headlines: sexual harassment.

Tom Sanders is an up-and-coming executive at the computer firm DigiCom. When his new boss turns out to be a woman who is both his former lover and a business rival, Sanders determines to be professional. But after a closed-door meeting, the woman accuses him of sexual harassment. It's her word against his, and suddenly Sanders finds himself caught in a nightmarish web of deceit in which he is branded as the villian. As he scrambles to save his career and his reputation, Sanders uncovers an electronic trail into DigiCom's secrets . . . and the cynical scheme devised to bring him down.

While it pertained more to average things (businesses and sexual harrasment) than do the other books of his that I enjoy more, I REALLY enjoyed reading about this man's endeavors to see that justice prevailed.

Beautiful, bright, and talented Meredith Johnson arrives at Digital Communications Technology company to become the head of a division, a position that Tom Sanders thought was going to be his. Meredith, his former lover, invites him to her office after hours and attempts to seduce him. When he rejects her, she accuses him of sexual harassment. Tom hires Louise Fernandez to defend him and reverses the accusation to name Meredith as the aggressor. To this plot, Crichton adds computer-industry sabotage, corporate mergers, video-linkups, stock options, CD-ROM jargon, and even a trip on a virtual-reality simulator to help Tom save his reputation and career.

I like the characters. The story about sexual harassment was interestinng because a man was a victim. I have to say I thought Meredith is a crybaby.

Classic Crichton, minus the science. Really, I liked this one more than most. Its modern and more easily related to things you can see happening.

A woman scorned is a formidable thing. Especially when she's your boss. This book gives men a taste of what women have been dealing with for centuries. The book is much more engrossing than the movie because of Chrichton's superb writing.

I picked this up in the Airport before a flight, and was half way through it before I realized I had seen the movie a few years earlier, heh.. It's very good. I actually enjoyed it a little more than the movie, and it drew me into the story more too.

A brutal struggle in the cutthroat computer industry...
A shattering psychological game of cat and mouse...
A shocking accusation that threatens to derail a brilliant career...
These are the electrifying elements of the novel by the author of The lost World and Jurassic Park.
It is Michael Crichton at his galvanizing best...

If you loved the movie, you will love the book. However, the book is much more suspenseful.

Thought provoking book.

A good story but seem a little contrived. Even at that I enjoyed it very much, in fact I staid up late because I wanted to finish it before I went to bed.

A much better book than many other Michael Crichton books. I usually find his endings to be sudden and contrived. Not as much with this one. A good entertaining read for the beach or rainy day.
