Interesting, and loaded with historical info, but very difficult to follow. Not a book I would recommend to a friend, unless they understood chess very well and had an excellent knowledge of the French Revolution.
From Matthew Pearl, author of 'The Dante Club': "Readers thrilled by The Da Vinci Code will relish the mult-layered secrets of The Eight."
'People' wrote: "With alchemical skill, Neville blends modern romance, historical fiction, and medieval mystery...and comes up with gold."

Really fascinating read -- combines mystery with chess and history. Absolutely enthralling.
Great suspense! If you liked The DaVinci Code, you'll love this book.
Good fun. Better than The DaVinci Code IMHO.
I really enjoyed this book, it is a very unique love story or stories!
Loved it! Couldn't put it down until the end. Full of adventure and twists for the intelligent, likeable female heroines with a smidgen of romance.
A complicated but intersting storyline...A mystery with a lot of history thrown in. Sometimes hard to get through.
