BLOODLINE
Dina McDermott is on top of the world. Attractive and independent at thirty, she runs her own business, funded by a generous inheritance. But an explosive chain of events will soon be set into motion -- and her perfect life will spin out of control.

A journalist with a fearless instinct, Simon Keller believes he's struck gold when he unearths an unsettling story about former president Graham Hayward, one that started with a secret affair and ended in tragedy. The trail leads Simon to Dina McDermott's front door -- and threatens to expose a parentage that would rock the political world. Shaken to her core by a shattering truth, Dina is suddenly thrust into the crosshairs of a cold-blooded killer -- and on the run of her life.

This book has a slow start but is well worth the time to read. It is more mystery than romance both of which Mariah Stewart writes well.

Loved this book! Its a great mystery dealing with a journalist who uncovers some information on a former president while researching a book and and the web it creates to many different people, some of whom have no idea that they are now a target to be murdered. Real Page Turner.

First Mariah Stewart book I've read...It's a pretty good read, though not as good as I'd expected/hoped.

The first half was mostly from the Hero's point of view, but it evened out in the second half of the book.
the Main characters weren't bad, but not really memorable either. We don't really get any insight in their characters though... not really. I would have preferred to have gotten inside their heads more, we get a little bit of personal history, but we don't really get any in depth insight on their rationales for why they act like they do. They sort of just...exist.

The romance is present, but it's pretty tame....no melodrama, no misunderstandings, no blow ups, no crazy exes, no jealousy...it's sort of just.... there...a change of pace from romantic suspenses I've read.

As for the suspense/mystery ( I don't consider it a "thriller")....the story was interesting and intriguing (didn't have any trouble finishing it) but again pretty tame. I was definitely surprised by who the bad guy was, and a little disappointed....It felt like a cop out really.

Overall not a horrible book, a little slow though...

I'd say it's a good book, with an intriguing story that will keep you reading, on a lazy day, so long as you're not looking for a ton of fast action or a hot and heavy romance.
