Book Description:
Meet Faye, Marilyn, Alice, and Shirley. The four founding members of the Hot Flash Club, where the topics of motherhood, sex and men are discussed with double servings of chocolate cake...

Faye is an artist and a determinedly cheerful widow. Now she's got a tricky problem to bring to the club's table: how can they catch her perfect son-in-law cheating on her daughter? Shirley is a healer. Though her yoga-slender body belie her years, dating one too many losers and the strain of being broke make her feel her age.

Shirley has a secret dream: to own a spa. But first she needs to believe in herself, in her abilities, and in her friends at the club.

Marilyn is a palaeontologist who has spent so many years looking at dried-up fossils, she feels she's in danger of becoming one herself. Worried that her son is about to marry the wrong woman, she gets some help from her friends, who transform her from a caterpillar to a butterfly...

Alice, the executive, has soared to the top of the corporate ladder. Now her shoes are killing her and the younger jackals are circling in for the kill. But as the inspiration behind the Hot Flash Club, she's about to discover something extraordinary: contentment.

From the bestselling author of Between Husbands and Friends and Custody, comes a wise, wonderful and hilarious coming of (middle) age novel about four intrepid women -- ready to face the best years of their lives.

I really enjoyed this book. Nancy Thayer made her characters appealing and entertaining. They made me feel as though I was myself a member of the club. This book should be interesting to the 50 and above crowd. On the other hand, it should also be appealing to anyone interested in being a true blue friend to others who share an interest in their lives. I am looking forward to continue reading the rest of the books in this series.

I was able to enjoy this book as long as I remembered not to expect more than it could offer: fun, funny, often heart-warming, and easy to read, it's an unsurprising women's friendship book. But I couldn't help getting sidetracked by the glib, stereotypical characters and rather predictable plot, and probably won't read more of the series.

I enjoy a good laugh and expected to get it with this book. While it brought out some humorous moments, I didn't find this a particularily side tickling book. In fact, as an unofficial member of HFC I identified with every one of these 4 women in one way or another. It seems that the author has been living inside my body without my permission! I'll read more about the HFC but not for the humor - but for some insight!

One of the best books I have ever read. If you are in the "over 40" age group, this is a must read!

Four women of a "certain" age meet, form the Hot Flash Club, and help each other in the realization that they can have it all. I can't wait to read the second book in this series.

The beginning of a series about 4 women that form an impromptu 'support group'.They develop great friendships and solve each other's problems. Women over the age of 35 will relate to the characters.I wish we had a local 'Hot Flash Club'!!
