Book Description:
From Amazon reviews: "This is the story of Dr. Daniel Crompton, extremely smart, arrogant, and HOT chemical physicist. It is also the story of Suzanna Molloy, intrepid scientific reporter, whose strange "family" connections have her interested in the work of Dr. Crompton.

She's Lois Lane. He's Mr. Darcy crossed with the mind of Stephen Hawking.

The story is good, the baddies are bad, Suzanna's t-shirts are a background source of humor. The story is fun, and well worth digging up in a library or used book store."

"Cinderman - Dr. Daniel Crompton was working on a secret project - at least he thought it was secret - until reporter Suzanne Mallery turns up demanding to know what is going on. And she is not the only one concerned about the project, for while Daniel is escorting Suzanne out of the lab (forcibly), there is an explosion. He, in true hero fashion, covers her body with his to stop the blast from hitting her. They both awaken in hospital, his whole back of his body covered in a green slime ( aka Golden Years - though this was written BEFORE) and her hands were also covered. Later, Daniel began to get a few mysterious powers. Great fun"

I've read this author's Devil's Waltz and really enjoyed its anti-hero and was expecting some good things from this little book. Instead I found it unexceptional and couldn't get past the first 1/4 before I started skimming huge sections. The premise of a hunky scientist who accidentally acquires super hero-like powers was wasted on a guy who was too disagreeable to hold my attention and saddled with a nosey reporter of a heroine who did nothing but get on my nerves. I probably should have read this back when I bought it in the 1990's. Now I'm too picky, too jaded and far too impatient for books that don't grab me in the early pages. Ahh, the perils of the tbr pile.
