Book Description:
The second of the author's mysteries set in a small town in Vermont. Fay Hubbard, recovering from a painful divorce, expects to find peace and solitude in a rural Vermont town. She plans to start a farmhouse bed-and-breakfast. She is lucky her gutsy neighbor, Ruth Willmarth, can teach her to milk her rented cow and tell her which of the local trade people to call upon. The discovery of a mysterious ring attached to a lone finger bone found on Ruth's land, and the sudden appearance of people--and a body--from the past, cements an unlikely friendship as Fay and Ruth attempt to solve a murder.

THis is a good mystery but has a lot of characters to try to keep straight. Set in Vermont with the main characters being Ruth and Fay who are recently separated from husbands. Each is struggling to maintain a residence in rural Vermont on a farm or bed and breakfast. Nearby a "womens center" is also struggling to maintain their position in the community. In the midst of all, an old skeleton is discovered and many theories abound as to who it is and who did the murder.
I did enjoy the book despite all the over lapping characters whom I had trouble keeping identified. Some of them could have been developed a lot more to make the story easier to follow. I will read her other books.
