Preparations for the twenty-five-year reunion for graduates of Mellingham High School are under way -- and trouble tops the guest list. Becka Chase, who heads the reunion committee, has her hands full between preparations and fending off the advances of her neighbor and ex-lover, whose strange behavior threatens to blow open a scandal that shadows her life.

Meanwhile, other members of the Class of '69 have more than reminiscing on their minds. Eliot Keogh has returned to find out who framed his father and sent him to prison. Becka's surreally beautiful neighbor, Mindy, has run off without a trace. Her husband, Vic, is found in a coma. Once again, police chief Joe Silva's razor-sharp instincts zero in on the kind of mystery that can only happen in a small picturesque town, where secrets wield quiet, sinister power -- and where friends and enemies can be one and the same.
