Book Description:
Knock, Knock.
Who's Dead?

Ingrid Beaumont, flaky but prolific songwriter for B-movie soundtracks, attends her Denver high school reunion for a wild night of fun and good times. However, the morning-after hangover proves sobering indeed when the news of the murder of Wylie Jamestone, a popular local artist and genuine creep, reaches the ears of his classmates. He leaves a mile-long list of enemies and a challenge for Ingrid to find his killer.

Ingrid accepts the challenge, trying to fit together the pieces of Wylie Jamestone's scandal-ridden life to find out whom he finally pushed too far. With the help of a large, lovable dog Hitchcock, Ingrid manages to pull together a few theories that are obviously catching the notice of a killer determined to make sure that neither they-nor Ingrid herself--see the light of day.

It's OK if you don't mind a totally stupid "heroine" who gets herself into all sorts of unnecessary trouble while wise cracking all the time. Actually some of the jokes are good, but the story was a disappointment.

This protagonist is a "60's" character. I didn't like her enough to make the book a good read for me, but loaned it to my niece and she loved it, so it has more appeal to a baby boomer than a senior citizen.

A 30 year high school reunion, memories of a dreadful accident, and Viet Nam. Lots of references to that period which are light. Not as depressing as the subject matter would indicate.

Great mystery made even better by the help of her large, lovable dog, Hitchcock.

I rated this book a '5' because it was a '1' for plot but a '10' for the setting, which was Colorado Springs! If the book hadn't have taken place in Colorado Springs, I probably would have put it down right away. The mystery was enjoyable but it seemed like the author recycled a lot of the same lines and jokes throughout the book. Nevertheless, I will be seeking out more of this author's work. :)
