Book Description:
Genealogist Torie O'Shea heads to Minnesota to have a look at a 150-year-old manuscript filled with love . . . and cold-blooded murder. The story of Anna Bloomquist, a 17-year-old desperately in love with a man she couldn't have ends when the girl and her baby die in a suspicious fire. As Torie becomes immersed in Anna's sad story, odd connections to present day emerge. The shocking murder of the owner of the marina, and the arrest of Torie's stepfather for the crime, fuel her theory that the entire story of betrayal, family secrets and murder has not finished playing itself out. With her uncanny ability to piece together bits of history, Torie may be the only person who can find the true killer, before an innocent man goes to prison.

Honestly, the only reason I picked this book up was because, I thought the cover was pretty! I'm so glad I judged a book by its cover!

I won't go into the plot as the other reviewers have covered it well. All I will say is that I haven't been so engrossed in a mystery since I was addicted to Nancy Drew mysteries in junior high. This is the first of the Torie O'Shea series that I have read and the characters were developed enough that I felt like I had known them for some time. Also the mystery of "Anna's Story" really drew me in and I couldn't turn the pages fast enough. This is a very simply written mystery, but, that's one thing I really enjoy about it. There were only a few curse words & no really graphic love scenes which was nice in my opinion.

I have ordered all the other's in this series that were available in this club. Hopefully, the others are as great as this one! Love it! Finally a grown-up mystery series that I can get into as much as I used to be into Nancy Drew!

Easy read. Torie O'Shea using genealogy research to solve a 150 year old murder while trying to prove her step father isn't guilty of murder in the present.
