Book Description:
Falling for the man next door.

Romance writer Jayne Miller was determined to make a new life for herself and her daughter far from the heartache she'd left behind. She arrived in a late-winter storm -- only to collide with a snow-dusted stranger.

Her neighbor Tyler Lewis seemed to live a solitary life on his own terms, but his constant presence soon made her see past the brooding loner to the passionate man ready to break free of his brutal past. What would it take to convince Tyler that he wasn't somebody's tarnished hero -- but the love of this woman's life?

The hero is a character from one of her MUCH earlier books. I liked it well enough, but was hoping this book was another of her "heartbreak" series. She is an excellent author. Her story lines make sense, her characters are well developed, and she does a good job with dialog.

Great Book. I would suggest reading "Somebody's Baby" and "Somebody's Lady" first.

This book tore me up inside. I don't think I could ever have imagined that spousal abuse could have such a devastaingly ugly effect on sons. This books puts you right inside the mind, heart and soul of Tyler and makes you just want to weep for him.

This is a tender love story about two truly lost souls who find their way toward each other, though they've both been hurt in the past. Jayne and Tyler take it one day at a time (just like in real life!) until they eventually steal into each other's heart. If you liked the little town of Sweetwater, TN, try to get your hands on Somebody's Baby (Sarah & Daniel) and Somebody's Lady (Beth & Zach), they're all loosely related.

Tyler Lewis had been severly beaten and emotionally abused as a child. He had taken the beatings to save his mother and other siblings. His mother ended up stabbing his father to death. Tyler looked and sounded most like his father so the whole town figured he would eventually turn out just like him. When he hooked up with his first (and last) girlfriend whom the author tried to portray as a raving bitch, Tyler had backhanded her during a fight. He was afraid of being like his father so he hid away at his house for five years until Jayne Miller moved next door. He began helping her with household tasks and he adored her daughter. He naturally tried to break things off with Jayne to protect her from himself but he couldn't do it. All in all, this was a good story but I would still be VERY leery of a man who hit a woman EVEN ONCE and was regretful about it.
