This story is an American historical book during 1890 in Colorado. The hero is a scarred man who marries his brothers widow to give her unborn child a father. At 296 pages it's a quick read. I'd give it a 3 on a scale of 5.

Great book! Noah is injured from during a farm accident while a teen and pretty much becomes a recluse. His handsome younger brother can do no wrong in his Mom's eye (while Noah is a monster) but his younger brother is a liar, cheat, and womanizer. He marries a girl because she won't go to bed with him without a ring and then leaves her pregnant and broke. When Noah hears his brother is killed he finds his widow and arranges to take care of her. Neither Noah or Katherine believe they are worth much but they each learn to help the other.

This was so touching! A well-done Beauty and the Beast theme. Loved it!
