This was a fun detective type story about phychics who know what's gonna happen on planet earth and try to manipulate it. I enjoy a good story with strong women characters and Rachel Caine delivers. I tried to buy the follow up story from amazon... and crazy people want more than
$100 for a paperback USED book. Whatzup with that???

This book was awesome! I loved it. I finished over half of it at one time trying to find out what lay behind the next dark corner! I would keep it on my keeper shelf if I could convince myself that no one else would want to read it. :) I just got the sequel today in the mail! I highly suggest this book to anyone.

I will be reading more in this series. This is a must read. The woman in the book-you will cheer for-they do not stay stupid wimpy things and stand up for themselves.

Not at all your typical romance, in fact, there was hardly any romance in this book. The book was instead a situational
paranormal mystery. I think some paranormal romance authors seem to be in a rut (Immortal warriors and vampires)
but this one was just different enough to be interesting. There's a harder edge to this book than to Ms. Caine's Warden
or Morganville novels. That does not make it less of a story, it simply demonstrates her versatility. The plot builds slowly,
hooking you on the intrigue and drawing you in until you find, like Jazz does, that there's no going back. You have
to see how it ends. When it does, once again, Ms. Caine proves she's a master of the cliffhanger. ****

Though the investigation is convoluted and starts relatively late, readers who appreciate strong female action
heroines will want to read DEVIL'S BARGAIN. The testosterone flows on every page in which either Lucia or Jazz appear
starting from the beginning the latter kicks butt in a bar and never lessons until the final kick butt climax even when
Jazz and James make love. Fans of strong women starring in a wild investigative thriller will enjoy this dynamic tale......

Very good. Plot keeps you drawn in to the end. I didn't realize it was the first book in a series and was disappointed to come to the end with things unfinished.

Jazz and Lucia are met with an offer they can't refuse. Money to open their own detective agency with only the occasional job from the donor. But the jobs come in red envelopes and have a mysterious link to a psychic serial killer.

Great thriller, fast-paced read and just enough mystery to leave you wanting more.

I thought this book was fantastic! I was very surprised that it was more mystery/thriller than romance. The entire book was action-packed all the way through. I didn't actually start enjoying the book until after page 100 because it took me that long to warm up to the characters and the plot, because I had expected romance. However, I sped through the book after that point and was satisfied at the end. I really liked both of the leading female protagonists and I hope we get to see more of them in future books by Rachel Caine.

I kept feeling like the book was going to get better. I liked the characters but the book seemed like it ended before it really began. I definitely enjoyed her Weather Warden series more.
