This is one of the best fantasy books I've read in a long time. It's part thriller and adventure and part history lesson (the history is so well done that it is woven into the story seemlessly without interrupting the suspense). It takes place in present time and includes a magical sword.
This book was so good that it earned permanent keeper status on my bookshelf. Now I want to read the entire series. I highly recommend it.

Wow. Surprisingly good book.
It's action/adventure with a little supernatural thrown in. The main character Annja Creed is, to me, a Lara Croft clone. So much so that at one point in the book she actually tells someone she's not a videogame heroine.
Now, to be fair and tell about some of the "down points", if you can call it that - Annja is one of those characters that can do just about anything - like Dirk Pitt from the Clive Cussler novels.
She's an archeologist in her mid to late 20's, beautiful, can speak multiple languages and read even more, can rock climb without using any equipment, knows martial arts - and apparently has a supernatural secret that we don't fully get explained in the this the first book of an apparently on-going series.
That stuff can be a negative in some instances - but it makes for a great exciting adventure here.

Annja Creed is not some wannabe video game heroine model! At least that's what she tells us in the beginning of this roaring adventure. But the reader will have a hard time separating her from that other female treasure hunter. I think she is secretly the daughter of Lara Croft and Indiana Jones :o)
I really enjoyed this adventure, and found it almost impossible to tear myself away when other duties (like eating and sleeping) demanded attention. I think you will like it too :o)

Readers who enjoy their literary escapism fast and furious should definitely check out Annja Creed, whom Victor Milan
calls "a major babe and a major ass-kicker." Annja embarks on a relentless chases to stop humanity's most unfathomable
secrets from reshaping the modern world.
Hidden in the secrets of antiquity, lies the unimagined truth. A-long lost sword. A willing heroine. For those that
want a little something MORE. . .in this day and age we want to beleive there is MORE. . .to believe in.
I WILL read the rest of the series. Glad each is a separate an individual story so you do not have to read them in order.

This is the first in this series and I really enjoyed it! I will read the others as well. I love the lead character, Annja Creed. She is a strong female with a magical sword that used to belong to Joan of Arc! Good plot. A good read!

First book in a series. A Lara Croft meets Sara Pazinni (Witchblade, the TV series on cable) kind of character. Long on adventure, character build up will continue with the next book in the series, but well done beginning.

I found it very enthralling. I loved the banter between Annja, Roux and Garin. I also love how Annja is sarcastic.
