The novel is set in Louisiana, where a serial killer is loose and a movie is being filmed. The story is rich in subplots and regional atmosphere. Misty bayou scenes in which images of life in the past and present mingle. "A fine example of noir fiction."

If you love Louisiana, suspense, the civil war re-enactments or history you will love this authors book. I couldn't put it down and it stayed with me even when I had to.

I think this is one of the best in this series--evocative, descriptive, and some wonderful twists.

The restless spectors wait in the shadows for a Cajun cop Dave Robicheaux-as he hunts for a serial butcher who is praying on the less than innoncent young. For these spirts are the guardians of his darkess torments-and they hold the key to his ultimate salvation...or fatal down fall.

I love James Lee Burke's books!! Only letting this one go because my husband bought me a duplicate-didn't look in my bookcase first!
It is in the Dave Robicheaux series set in Louisiana, about a serial killer involved with a movie company shooting on location in New Orleans
