Book Description:
A vicious captain, a mutinous crew --
and a young girl caught in the middle

Not every thirteen-year-old girl is accused of murder, brought to trial, and found guilty. But I was just such a girl, and my story is worth relating even if it did happen years ago. Be warned, however: If strong ideas and action offend you, read no more. Find another companion to share your idle hours. For my part I intend to tell the truth as I lived it.

A great period story about a young girl learning to see beyond the facade of "gentle" English society and striving to do something that matters.

The book does appear to be a good period piece about the nautical life during the 1830's. However, I was disappointed in the way the story ended and the protagonist's ultimate deceit and decision. I felt the author was injecting a modern radical feminist viewpoint into the past, and the plot near the end just seemed very implausible.

For fun and giggles I decided to read this book again. I read it a long time ago when it was more age appropriate for me. This is a nice period piece that covers a young woman’s journey through things. If you liked Pirates of the Caribbean you are very likely to enjoy True Confessions of Charlotte Doyle. It is age appropriate, but it is also enjoyable and amusing for the older crowd if they wish to watch that.

I'd recommend this YA novel for anyone who loved Pirates of the Caribbean - it has similiar air of nautical adventure with a 'not-too-unwholesome' air about it.... 13-year-old Charlotte Doyle, through mischance, ends up as the only passenger (and only woman) on a ship bound from England to Providence, RI (my hometown!) If that wasn't scandal enough, the ship is bound for mutiny, and Charlotte is caught between the cruel gentleman captain and the unsavory - but possibly more honest - crewmen. A fun light read!

Set in 1832 on the high seas of the Atlantic ocean, this book for young adults is thrilling.

This Book is truly magic. It takes you onto the Seahawk and on the thrilling journey Charlotte endures throughout the whole book!

Bought this for my DS for outside reading in middle school. He told me I would enjoy it. I really did!

This is one of the classics I remember reading as a child. Enjoyable and enteraining for any young reader.

Fabulous book by one of the all-time best children's authors. If you read all of his books you would never know they are written by the same person.

One of my favorite books growing up. Truly an empowering book for younger women.
