An exciting Detective J.P. Beaumont mystery in which "a homicidal beauty proves to Beaumont that looks can kill."
Great story in the series of J.P. Beaumont. They get better all the time.

A J P Beaumont Mystery. At first, the cops had little to go on--a paycheck stub from Starlight Productions, a matchbook from the Edgewater Inn. Oh, and a body. Definitely male and decidely dead, covered with strange little puncture wounds. Now all Beau has to do is solve the mystery.

J.Jance good easy read.
It seemed like a most unlikely instrument of death: a ladys cobalt blue pump with stiletto heels. But the fact that it was caked with the blood of---and found damningly close to---a very dead man gives Seattle Homicide Detective J.P. Beaumont a solid lead into a case of lethal theatrics and unsavory union doings. He has a pay stub, matchbook, one corpse---and an unsettling feeling of more to come. And he has a murder weapon. All Beau has to do now is find the woman who fills it.

From AudioFile: "J.P. Beaumont is a tough Seattle cop with traditional values. In the course of investigating two murders, he is introduced to the worlds of show business, drugs and alternate life-styles. He is uncomfortable, but he perseveres and solves the murders..." J.D.P. Book Description: "Top ten New York Times bestselling author J.A. Jance brings another stunning novel of passion, violence, and dreams turned deadly, featuring Seattle Homicide Detective J.P. Beaumont. There are many bizarre and terrible ways to die. Seattle Homicide Detective J.P. Beaumont thought he had seen them all - until he saw this body, its wounds, and the murder weapon: an elegant woman’s shoe, its stiletto heel gruesomely caked with blood. The evidence is shocking and unsettling, even for a man who prowls the shadows for a living, for it suggests that savagery is not the exclusive domain of the predatory male. And the scent of a stylish killer is pulling Beaumont into a world of drugs, corruption, and murder to view close-up a cinematic dream at its most nightmarish…and lethal."

I kind of lost interest at the end. Too many characters and explanations to keep up with.
