Book Description:

Escaping the ravages of the Civil War, a gently reared lady must leave behind everything she knows -- and trust her life and her future to a dangerous gunfighter with a passion for vengeance.

A team of prize Arabian horses is all that Willow Moran has left -- and Caleb Black is the only man who can help her reach her brother in the Colorado Rockies. But she fears this stranger who burns to avenge the wrongs of treacherous men. For Caleb is as wild and unpredictable as the uncivilized land he loves. Yet, though she challenges him at every turn, the spirited southern lady knows this proud, enigmatic loner is her destiny. And no matter what peril awaits, they must face it together -- for Willow has become a fever in Caleb's blood ... awakening a need so fierce that he would defeat the devil himself to possess her.

Both of the main characters are very well-drawn, and Lowell masterfully builds the sexual tension between them. The love scenes are steamy and the action scenes are very compelling. I ususally would skim through gun battles, but Lowell does such a good job that you won't want to miss them. You'll be sorry to see this book end. Luckily it's just the beginning of the Moran saga!

What an eloquently written Civil War era western romance! The scenery descriptions have you imagining you were going through the Rockies and over the Great Divide. The character interactions will draw you in and you'll start your own mental argument (I promise you that!). I loved that there was no overly dramatic tension or hostility between characters. Yes, there was a revenge issue - however, as much as it drove the story, it didn't overwhelm the story.

I'm not much for westerns, but for Lowell, I'll try anything once...ok, well maybe twice. If you give it a try, you'll love it too!

5 Stars!

You can never go wrong with Lowell historicals. Great romantic, sexy read set in the old west. Can be heart wrenching. Very hard book to post, as I've enjoyed it more than once. First in the Only series.

Great book. First in a series about three brothers and their friend who find adventure and romance as they make their mark in the settlement of Old West. First is Only His, 3rd is Only Love. I believe Only Mine is 4th. I have read first three. Very good!

Beautiful, gently reared Willow Moran left her Civil War-ravaged home with per prized Arabian horses and the dream of joining her brother in the Colorado Rockies--trusting her fate to a rugged gunfighter whose raw masculinity demanded she sacrifice her girlish innnocence for a woman's desire.
