The death of her father has left beautiful Clover Sherwood penniless and ostracized from Pennsylvania society. So when a prosperous backwoodsman comes to town hunting for a wife, the resourceful miss sees and opportunity to rescue her family from destitution and proposed to the handsome Kentucklan on the spot. A rugged and roughewn Scotsman, Ballard Macgregor is pleased with the arrangement. The pretty little lass will teach him the manners he needs to rise in affluent circles and he in turn will awaken her to the breataking wonder of the wilderness. But settlement life is harsh on his gentell young bride, whose sweet innocence bewitches Ballard totally. And unless he can win her love with tender caresses and sensuous kisses, Clover will leave and take Ballards aching heart with her.
This is another great read by Hannah Howell. If you enjoy her books you won't be disappointed with this one.
