Watermelon was great plane reading! I've now read 2 of Marian Keyes' books, and I've had similar reactions: I expect 'light and fluffy' chick lit, but her stories always seem to dig a little bit deeper, deal with issues more realistically, and give me more satisfaction than other books in this genre. I also find myself annoyed with the flightiness and weakness of her characters sometimes, but they seem to come out stronger on the other end - as Claire did at the end of this book. I think that's a testament to her writing and understanding how real people might behave when faced with crappy situations in the real world.

This is my first Marian Keyes read. The best thing about this book for me was the way the author had with her words. She writes very well, and draws you in easily. I appreciated that. And I really enjoyed how she made her secondary characters, Claire's family-to be specificly, so lively and funny and very warm personalities. Even when they were being silly or mean or whatever other emotion, the characters wrapped around me like a warm blanket. The only reason this novel isn't a favorite of mine is because of Claire's situation with her husband. I could not like the storyline or how she developed it and its conclusion. While it ended well, I wanted more from the plot. But I am glad I tried Marian Keyes. I may read another.

I found this to be a funny story and I could relate with the main character. However I found the ending to be a bit predictable. Fun read though!

Marian Keyes writes the most fun books and Watermelon is no different. Fun & witty with great characters that you really empathize with.

This is the first book I've read by Marian Keyes and I really enjoyed it. I could really relate to a lot of the things that Claire was feeling as far as being confused about her husband who cheated on her and the new guy she finds in her life. It was very witty and funny. The ending was something different than I expected, but I was still pleased with how things turned out. I'd highly recommend this book. =)

I enjoyed the writing style...the main character talks directly to the reader.
The book had an abrupt ending. When I got to the end, I first thought some pages were missing(none are missing). It just seemed like there was a better point in the story to wrap things up.

Marian Keyes writes a wonderfully light read - smart and funny and touching at the same time. I always enjoy her work!
