Book Description:
The South American jungle guards many secrets and a remarkable site nestled between two towering Andean peaks, hidden from human eyes for thousands years. Dig deeper through layers of rock and mystery, through centuries of dark, forgotten legends, into ancient catacombs where ingenious traps have been laid to ensnare the careless and unsuspecting; where earth-shattering discoveries -- and wealth beyond imagining -- could be the reward for those with the courage to face the terrible unknown.

Something is waiting here where the perilous journey ends, in the cold, shrouded heart of a breathtaking necropolis; something created by Man, yet not humanly possible. Something wondrous. Something terrifying.

James Rollins' books push the boundaries of the believable -- and I love them! This book, however, was so unbelievable that it bordered on being ridiculous. Nor did I like the romantic relationships that developed simultaneously between the uncle and his former college sweetheart and between the nephew and his fellow researcher. One romantic relationship would have been enough. Two seemed cheesy.

Enjoyable fast paced read. Again contains a story line that you need the ability to suspend your need for reality. I found it fun and intertaining, certainly a page turner. He does imploy the style of story telling that follows 1st one set of characters and just when they are in jeopardy skips to another set of charaters. I'll be reading more of his books, they are a great "bus" read (I commute to work).

You like archeological digs and ancient history? How about a novel that brings in both of those, then tosses in a chase and a search for buried (well something). Very readable. Good story. A page turner

Excellent read. This book seemed to read much quicker than previous James Rollins' books. Page-turner from start to finish.

This was the first James Rollins book I ever read and man was it a good one. It captured me from in the first several pages and I never wanted to put it down. I would recommend it for anyone who loves suspense and horror. A lot of great archaeological facts in there as well.

Fabulous book recommended by Douglas Preston, co-author of Relic. Very suspenseful story that hopefully will be turned into a movie at some point!

A good adventure story. In the vein of Cussler, but a bit more fantastical (a little sci-fi here and there). I enjoyed it.
