The cute journalist sitting next to her on the flight from London to New York is exactly what Josie Flynn needs to take her mind off her cheating ex-husband and her mother's I-told-you-so's. When he shares his own divorce story, buys her a drink, and invites her to dinner in New York, she feels pretty smug about the way her life is looking up. Then he doesn't show for the date, the wedding Josie is attending turns into a fiasco, and her ex-husband flies in from London to try to charm her back. And that doesn't include what happens to the cute guy when he tries to track her down in New York with no more information than a bride's first name.

Quick, fun read. I was a bit disappointed by it, though.

This is british humor. Very droll tale of marriage, sex, and love.

Too many times during this book I felt like the author was telling my story. LOVED the book!

I enjoyed this book. The first I read by Matthews and maybe my favorite, although I know others don't feel the same. The duck scenes are funny, improbable but funny.

Difficult for me to get into. Made me laugh, made me angry. Disappointed in the abrupt ending but glad it all tied in.

This is a light hearted book. Perfect for summer reading

I was quite disappointed in this book. If it's a take on "modern love and marriage" then it's enough to make me want to stay single for the rest of my life. The only semi-funny part is the debacle with poor Donald the duck, and it's not enough to redeem the book. The ending crashes to a boring halt. But worst of all are the characters. They are disappointingly self-centered and amoral, and if the author is basing this book on her own life or that of people she knows, then I feel sorry for all involved. (Some spoilers ahead...read at your own risk.)

First there are the people with no self esteem who, when the ones they love walk all over them, cry and throw a pity party and wonder what's wrong with themselves. Then there are those who give up a good thing to chase after someone else, then desperately try to reclaim the first person when it looks like they've finally moved on. They end up hurting others in the process and think only of themselves and what they want (case in point: "no matter how many times I'm unfaithful in the future, I'll never leave her again"). And there's Matt, who's supposedly smitten and tries desperately to find Josie, yet can't turn down a drink (which causes him to lose Josie in the first place), and can't resist kissing the girl who's throwing herself at him. And when he thinks he's lost Josie, he falls straight into bed with the other girl. Yeah, true love there! And then of course there's the girl who comes on like a freight train talking about commitment free sex, only to get angry when she gets just that. Depressing, deceitful and downright dreadful characters.

All in all, I wouldn't recommend this book to anyone.

Light, easy read. Good book.

Fine chick lit.

After her marriage to Damien ended in disaster, Londoner Josie Flynn-thirtysomething and single again- is flying across the ocean to her American cousin's "big mistake" wedding. In her present "love stinks" frame of mind, the last person she expects to be seated next to on the flight is someone like Matt Jarvis.

Carole Matthews's books are always enjoyable reads for ne. This was no different.

A dead on tale of marriage, sex, monogamy, and modern love. Like real life only funnier.
