Book Description:
Beginning fifty years before the start of Bram Stoker's novel, Covenant with the Vampire introduces us to Dracula's family, who are bound by a covenant as ancient as their blood to serve Dracula and to protect him. At the castle of Prince Vlad Tsepesh, also known as Dracula, Vlad's great nephew Arkady has recently taken over the job of managing the thriving, busy estate. Arkady is honored to care for his beloved though eccentric great uncle...until he begins to realize what is expected of him in his new role.

Either he provides his great uncle with victims to satisfy his needs, or Vlad will kill those Arkady loves. He is trapped into torture. And it is in his blood. When Arkady learns that his newborn son is being groomed to follow one day in his footsteps, he knows that he must fight Dracula, even if it means his death.

A very interesting take on the dracula myth. Arkady Psepesh returns to Transylvania upon the death of his father and immediately here's the many rumors from the far away village. devil...covenant...vampire. He brings his pregnant wife, Mary to meet his family - his sister, Zsuzsanna and his uncle, Vlad.

This is a roller coaster ride of rumor, suspicion and terrified villagers. Such unbelievable things are happening to Arkady that he fears for his sanity. Mary is getting a different but just as horrifying education from the servants and Zsuzsanna. This is an extremely well-written horror story that leads you on an electrifying adventure encased in blood and death.

Note: Surprisingly enough Dracul means dragon and dracula means son of the dragon. How did vampire come from this?

This story is written in journal format by main characters. It does a wonderful job of making the setting feel very "Bram Stoker" while giving another twist to the Dracula tale. A must-read for fans of this genre.

Great read for anyone interested in the "old school" history of vampires. Has some great twists the reader won't see coming. I have the trilogy.
