Dark book, well written, will he get away with it?

And I'm not talking about the serial murderer this book centers around...

How far would YOU go in seeking retribution?

The answer this book offers left me feeling unsettled...

A dark first novel by a former prosecutor. A lot of blood and gore.

This is a well written story about love and a great "thriller case" that the main character is working on. Hard to put down!

Excellent story and a great first novel for the author. It is perhaps more gory than my taste but it was unexpected and asks some powerful questions. How far should ethics bind a person? Perhaps further than we like to admit but then again, we all have a need to see justice prevail.

Although I normally don't read thrillers or court room dramas, when I started reading this book at a friends house I could not put it down. This was a page turner indeed that will have you gripped from the very first page.

Anything by Jilliane Hoffman is good. I think this is her best book. She not a well known author but this book, or any of her other two books will keep you on the edge of your seat. She's one author that I really keep an eye on for new releases.

The Barnes & Noble Review
This debut novel by a former assistant state attorney is a crime drama/courtroom thriller offering authentic forensic details, legal quandaries, and a surprising, enthralling plot.

After Chloe Larson is raped and left for dead by a madman in a clown mask, she changes her name, starts a new life in Miami, and becomes a prosecutor for the state attorney. A dozen years later she's given the task of prosecuting William Bantling, who is suspected of being "Cupid," a serial killer who butchers women. Chloe recognizes him as her rapist and begins to slide towards a possible mental breakdown. As she tampers with the case to make sure Bantling pays for his crimes,, she's beset by the question: Even if Bantling is her assailant, does that prove he's also Cupid?

Hoffman provides expert twists throughout a novel that starts off grippingly and never lets up. With smooth prose, and an inviting narrative style, the author creates believable and sympathetic characters, and although Retribution is intensely graphic and unsettling at times, Hoffman brings expertise and street credibility to her work. This is a darkly compelling, often gut-wrenching novel about a victim's attempt to balance the craving for personal revenge with the desire for justice. Tom Piccirilli

This is the Book of the Month Club edition. The text is the same as the original; the size of the book is just a little smaller.

This is an excellent mystery story. It is missing the dust jacket.
