This is the first book I have read by John Sanford, but I enjoyed it so much I will be looking for other books by him. He is a very clever writer. The book is about a gruesome serial killer. The initial suspect is a recently released inmate of a prison hospital. We get to visit the prison hospital and meet some of the scary and strange characters there. The story itself is very suspensful with a surprise ending - I love those.

John Sandford has one of the best ever crime fiction series going with his "Prey" novels. "Broken Prey," the 16th and most recent story in the series is, arguably, his best effort yet. Sandford's knack for using detail and sense of place to transport the reader out of their armchair and into an alternate world is supberb and it truly excels in this story. His characters are alive from first introduction, whatever scene he sets is right there for the reader, his plotting is perfect yet invisible...on and on. Add to that an incredibly well written climax--an action scene that ranks as the best I've ever read--and you have, with Broken Prey, John Sandford at the pinnacle of his game.

John Sandford's Prey series is one of the top of the line. Lucas is a great main character, and the stories are riveting.

Andrea Z. (This was a good book. A few twists & turns to keep it interesting. I never guessed the ending. I have read one other book by John Sandford & found it to be kind of boring so I was hesitant to read his other books.
I haven't read this one yet. I have two copies of it so I figured I might as well list it. It probably is as good as all the rest of the Prey books.
WOW. SURPRISE ENDING. STAYED UP ALL NIGHT TO FINISH IT.
A GOOD FAST PAGE TURNER.
