Book Description:
Stone Barrington and Holly Barker team up once again in Woods' newest offering, this time to hunt ex-CIA-agent-turned-assassin Teddy Fay at the behest of the director of the CIA, Kate Rule Lee, who also happens to be the wife of President William Lee. Stone and Holly, along with Dino Bacchetti, are dispatched to luxurious St. Marks island, where they spend as much time frolicking in the ocean as they do tracking Teddy. Stone and Holly manage to strike up an acquaintance with Irene Foster, a former CIA employee who was reputed to have had a relationship with Teddy, and her current lover, Harry Pitts. But Stone and Holly soon find themselves caught up in the corrupt local politics, which stand in stark contrast to the balmy paradise the island appears to be. After the chief of police on the island is gunned down, Stone and Holly realize Teddy might be back in business, and the hunt to find him becomes even more urgent.

Stone Barrington and Holly Baker head to St. Marks in Stuart Woods’ Shoot Him If He Runs. At the request of the President Will Lee and his wife CIA director Kate Rule Lee, they go to St. Marks to look for an ex CIA employee who they thought died in an earlier book.

I recommend that Stuart Woods’ books be read in order. This is Stone’s second trip to St. Marks, so you are reintroduced to people he already knows. It is a good book full of the usually murder, sex, and mystery that we all love Woods’ book for.

This was typical Woods reading, but his books seems to be getting shorter and shorter. No new characters, just the same faces in the same places.

I was really hoping for a little more.

I have read all the Stone Barrington/Holly Barker books and I must say that the plots have been getting boring, the characters interchangeable, and the villains more ludicrous. However, this novel, which started out rather ploddingly, with Stone, Holly and Dino heading back to St. Marks to find the elusive and believed dead Teddy Fay, took a turn for the better at around page 130. Just as I was thinking of not finishing this novel (a big yawn), things started getting exciting, characters started coming to life, and there were tricks and surprises! So I was extremely pleasantly surprised to race through the remaining 2/3 of the book to fnd out what would happen! One caveat: Woods is not good at character development, and his "sex scenes" are poorly written, mechanical, laced with profanity (mainly the "f" word) coming from every character, even the fictional president of the United States and his wife. You can tell this book is written by a male- that's all I can say!

Another great read featuring Stone Barrington and Holly Barker. Stone is usually very funny on his one but teamed up with Holly and it makes for a great read. I highly recommend this book. What's great about this series is you can read any book no need to start about the begining.

Same old Stuart Woods. This book has a lot of reoccuring characters from other Stone Barrington and Holly Barker books. Lots of action, with little bit of sex. A fun weekend read. Library book, so I can't list it for those who have it wishlisted.
