From back of book:
Someone's making death threats in Dixie--against a Thoroughbred horse destined to be the next Secretarial. At the owner's request, Boston P.I. Spenser hoofs it down south--where the lies ar buzzing ....and the dying is easy....
Spenser at his best in this murder mystery centering around thoroughbred race horses, southern good-old boys, and ill-gotten inheritances.

Boston private detective Spenser journeys to Georgia to protect a young horse after he is hired by Walter Clive, the president of Three Fillies Stables, to uncover the creep who is threatening his prize horse, Hugger Mugger
Solid "Spenser" mystery from Parker. Hawk is absent from this one (too bad!), but Parker manages to find some sufficiently sassy characters to support and spar with Spenser as he tries to find out first, who is shooting race horses, and second, who did in the owner -- and why.
Typical Spencer novel. I like this detective.
Spenser goes south to protect a thoroughbred horse. Very good book
