Susan Wittig Albert's "unique" series (Seattle Post-Intelligencer) featuring herbalist China Bayles is infused with the down-home charm of small-town Texas. Compelling, suspenseful, and wholly original, Mistletoe Man tells the story of China's search for a killer, her struggle to support a troubled friend-and of her desperate attempt to reconcile the demands of her new business with the desires of her heart... "Warm, witty...an appealing series that just keeps getting better."-Booklist "Albert's characters are as real and as quirky as your next-door neighbor."-Raleigh News & Observer "A treat for gardeners who like to relax with an absorbing mystery."-North American Gardener Ninth in the series

This series of books is delightful. Warm characters, a town I want to move to and smart people (mostly women) solving the twisted mysteries of Pecan Springs. Texas really is like she describes it. Lots of characters and tehn some more characters! Enjoyable read with a bit of time travel thru the feminist movement as you go throught the series. China evolves in her thinking like many of us have. Easy way to learn a lot about herbs too!

I am catching up on the China Bayles series and this one is one was especially hard to put down. I can't decide what I like the best - the good story that China Bayles solves or the interesting herbal lore that Wittig Albert weaves through the story. A good one!

Former big-city lawyer China Bayles worked hard to make her Texas herb shop, Thyme and Seasons, a success. Now business is booming at her charming new tea room, Thyme for Tea-but China is too distracted to revel in her latesst entrepreneurial triumph. When she's not trying to spend more time with her new husband and stepson, she's worrying about her best friend, Ruby, who just hasn't been herself lately. To further complicate matters, China has to round up a supply of mistletoe, the season's most popular herb. It seems an easy enough task-until her chief supplier turns up dead...

One of a series featuring former lawyer--now herb shop owner--China Bayles. Set in a small town in Texas, the book includes interesting herbal lore.

I loved this book.

Part of the China Bayles series. She is an ex-high powered lawyer who has moved to small town Texas and opened an herb shop. More involving and better written than most series mysteries.

I LOVE this series. I have read them out of order, but have enjoyed each one I have read. I can't wait to finish them all. A quick read but very enjoyable.

Amateur sleuth China Bayles is a former lawyer who now runs an herb shop and keeps getting involved in solving local murders. In Mistletoe Man, China's supplier of mistletoe is found dead, and her best friend is not herself...
