Book Description:
MAKE A RESERVATION...
Tucked away in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains is the charming Hatteras West Inn and Lighthouse. Innkeeper Alex Winston watches over the cozy getaway, and guests count on him to take care of everything from basic repairs to breakfast. But lately he has to take care of the occasional murder case, too...

The booths are all set up and the games are ready, but there's a new addition to this year's Golden Days Fair that will make it the one to remember - a corpse. Right before the festivities kick off, the town's favorite blacksmith is found impaled with an iron spike. Now Alex has to look for clues between the arts and crafts and candied apples. And it's up to him to put this county killer in federal prison before his small hometown loses any more of its charm...

"Myers cultivates the North Carolina scenery with aplomb and shows a flair for character." (Ft. Lauderdale Sun-Sentinel)

I liked this second book in the series better than the first. I still prefer his candlemaking series, though.

Alex is allowing a craft fair to be held on the grounds of his inn and one of the crafters - a blacksmith is impaled with a rod that appeared to have been made by a rival. The small town sheriff bumbles about suspecting that rival, but the blacksmith had a lot of enemies. As usual Alex is drawn into investigating things for himself.
These books are short, fast, cozy reads and I've enjoyed every Myers book I've read, this innkeeping series and his other craft series.

The second in the Lighthouse series. Innkeeper Alex is likeable. It is a quick, light mystery to enjoy with an interesting setting in North Carolina.

Delightful light read. The lighthouse centered inn is a totally different spin.

I'm again disappointed with Mr Myers writting ability. Such a great setting and idea for a series of books, but I don't feel that I'm a welcomed guest at his inn.

Life is going smoothly for innkeeper Alex Winston until the corpse of the town's blacksmith is discovered prior to the kickoff of the Golden Days Fair in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Moumtains.

Unfortunately after the second book, this series has run it's course with me. No real spark or endearing characters that make you want to dive into the next one.

Alex Winston runs a bed and breakfast that has the distinction of having a replica of the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse and its outbuildings. What's so curious about that, well, there is no water around just a lighthouse sitting in the foothills of North Carolina.

While embroiled in the daily duties of running the inn and trying to bring the lighthouse back to its glory, Alex agrees to let Shantana run the Golden Days Fair on his property. Things seem to be going smoothly, that is until a local blacksmith is found impaled with a very unique piece of metalwork and everyone seems to be a suspect.

This story quickly bogs down and by the time the killer is revealed, it really doesn't matter because my attention is no longer on the book. My mind has wandered and I was trying to figure out what I was going to read next. Not a good sign.

Good cozy series that takes place at a lighthouse inn. I enjoyed this one, but I like the author's candle shop mystery series better.
