One of her best in Anna's story .. love all of them, the descriptions of the various parks never cease to take you back to nature.
Nevada Barr writes beautifully, I always enjoy her books. Once you have read about the National Park she features you feel like you have actually been there. Nice balance of romance and suspense; educational too!

I am truly enjoying this series. Anna Pigeon is one feisty lady! I enjoy also reading about our National Parks.

The quiet beauty of autumn on Mississippi's Natchez Trace is swiftly shattered when Anna answers a call to Mt.Locust, once a working plantation and inn,now a tourist spot. But the man Anna finds in an old bedroom is no tourist in distress. He's nearly naked and very dead-his body bearing marks consistent with sex games gone awry.On a writing table nearby is an open Bible with ominous passages circled in red. There are secrets that prominent men in this God-fearing country wish to keep under wraps-and Anna had stumbled into a nest of them.
I like all the books in this series, set in National Parks
From back of book:
Park Ranger Anna Pigeon is back on the Natchez Trace with poachers, grave robbers, a romance and of course, a murder... The slightly spooky goings-on give the tale a pleasant chill, and Barr keeps the story's intensity high until the edge-of-your-seat conclusion. Along with her trademark elucidation of the wonders of nature, she never fails to illuminate human nature as well"

Always a good read. Anna Pidgeon is a park ranger dealing with the great outdoors and solving mysteries along the way.
I love the Nevada Barr Anna Pigeon series. Anna is a forest ranger and gets into some very interesting situations.
