I actually enjoyed this enough to put her other 2 on my list.
This book takes place in 1954 and the author does a good job of combining history and mystory. Her characters are well-rounded and the plot is good -- though a tiny bit predictable. But overall very well done.
It's a quick weekend read. Nothing taxing and a good escape. Definitely worth checking out the rest of the series.

Pretty good. I liked the historical aspect and the mystery was ok, but the book tended to drag in spots.
I was a great Brenda Starr fan, so I took to Paige immediately.

Fun cozy mystery set in 1954.
This is the first in the Paige Turner Mystery series.
Take a trip back in time to 1954 (the characters don't time travel, the reader does).
Humorous mystery series set in the 50's.

(From back cover) "The year is 1954, and Paige Turner is a feisty young widow with Brenda Starr bravado and a fixation with following in Agatha Christie's footsteps. Trouble is, she works like a dog at DARING DETECTIVE magazine and her lousy pun of a name has made her the butt of all office jokes. All she wants is to pen a memorable mystery, but first she needs a good story. Enter the corpse of twenty-four-year-old beauty Babs Comstock who'd had high hopes for the big screen - until she was found with a Hopalong Cassidy jump rope wrapped around her neck. Now, Paige has to find a murderer and tell the tale that could make her writing career - or cut short her life ..."

A enjoyable little cozy. I like all the references sprinkled in the book to 1950s products.
A funny protagonist and a story set in 1954 makes this book a little different from the norm--very enjoyable.
