From the back cover: Nestled between fast-track Ft. Lauderdale and nouveau-riche Boca Raton, the once sleepy beach town of Palmetto is plagued by progress. The latest news has Ocean Vista condo-board president Stella Sajak and other residents in an uproar. Developers plan to raze the property and put up a glitzy resort. But when Stella says she'll go to City Hall and fight this to the death, no one thinks to take her statement literally. And when Kate begins to investigate the murder, she discovers that this little corner of the sunshine state is cursed with corruption, unsavory characters, and a very dark cloud overhead....

This was a surprisingly good book. The setting was quite different from the cozies I've read before (a retirement complex in Florida) and the ameteur sleuth a lot older than the norm, but these things provided a great background and character line. Very well done.

Great book! Reminds me of Miss Marple or Maud Silver (Patricia Wentworth-author)! Must read to the end to find out what happened!!
"Delightfully eccentric suspects" with light humor included.

1st book of a new series, and a very good one.

Solid first entry in a series that features two feisty retired sisters who've moved to Florida to retire. Excellent cozy mystery.

I am enjoying Kate and her friends. This is the first in the series. Kate's husband drops dead after signing the papers to purchase a condo in Florida. Kate misses her friends and family back north and, as she tries to adjust to life in the sunny south, murders begin to occur. Kate wasn't married to a cop all those years for nothing!

The main characters are worth revisiting.

From the back cover: Once a snowbird, now full-time resident and sometime sleuth Kate Kennedy is a "stylish and sophisticated Miss Marple...." Kate's husband Charlie, a 45-year police detective veteran, died the day they bought the condo to live in "the rest of their lives"...Nestled between fast track Ft. Lauderdale and nouveau riche Boca Raton, the once sleepy Palmetto Beach is plagued by progress. Developers plan to raze the condo property and put up a glitzy resort. Condo board president Stella Sajak says she'll "fight this to the death"..and someone takes her seriously. Enter widow Kate and friends. "A charming new series"....
