Divided in Death (In Death, Bk 18) Author:J. D. Robb
Book Description:
The year is 2059. It is a future in which technology and humanity collide, and a new computer virus has become the latest form of terrorism.
Reva Ewing, a former member of the Secret Service, a security specialist for Roarke Enterprises, is a prime suspect in a double homicide. She had every reason to want to kill her husband, the renowned artist Blair Bissel. Not only was he having an affair, he was having it with her best friend. But Lieutenant Eve Dallas, who's on the case, believes Reva is innocent. Eve's instincts tell her that the murder scene looks too perfectly staged, the apparent answers too obvious. And when she digs for more, she discovers that at nearly the exact time a kitchen knife was jammed into the victim's ribs, the passcode to his art studio was changed - and all of the data on his computer deliberately corrupted.
To Roarke, it's the computer attack that poses the real threat. Signs show that this is the nightmare his company has secretly been preparing for. He and Reva have been under a code-red government contract to develop a program that would shield against a new breed of hackers, the Doomsday Group. These techno-terrorists with brilliant minds and plenty of financial backing hack into systems, steal data, and corrupt computer units on a large scale and kill anyone who gets too close.
Eve and Roarke must infiltrate an extraordinarily secretive government agency to expose the corruption at its core, before the virus spreads from one office to a corporation to the entire country.

It is the year 2059, a future where technology and humanity collide, and a new computer virus has become the latest form of terrorism... Reva Ewing was a former member of the Secret Service, and then a security specialist for Roarke Enterprises---until she was found standing over the dead bodies of her husband, renowned artist Blair Bissel, nd her best friend. But Lieutenant Eve Dallas believes there was more to the killings than jealous rage---all of Bissel's computer files were deliberately corrupted. Lots of sex and suspense!

A former member of the Secret Service, and security specialist for Roarke Emterprises was thought to have killed her husband and her best friend. Lieutenant Eve Dallas doesn't think it is a jealousy killing, she thinks it has to do with techno-terrorist

spys, espionage and a security specialist for Roarke Enterprises. This along with a serious riff between Eve and Roarke which starts to endanger their marriage. J.D. Robb at her norm.

Another great Eve Dallas book. This is #18 of the full length 'In Death' books. There are also four anthology short stories.

Great book. I've never read Roberts writing as Robb but it was actually a really good treat. I like that it takes place in the future but it's unbelievable! She makes it interesting and adds some twists that are even better.

I didn't like this book all that much. Maybe if I had read this series from the beginning I would feel differently. The story jumped right in with very little set-up of the characters, which is fine seeing as there are several books before this one. One thing that annoyed me was the author used several words without explaining what they were (the story takes place in 2059 I think). Also, just so future readers are aware, there was A LOT of swearing in this book. It is possible to read this book without having read the others and still understand what is going on because the plot (a case getting solved by the main character who is a cop) does have a beginning, middle and end.

Reva used to be a member of the Secret Service, and then a security specialist until she ended up finding her husband and best friend dead. Lieutenant Eve Dallas thinks there's more to this than jealousy. All of the husband's files in his computer were corrupted. Reva and her husband had been under a government contract to develop a program that would shield against technological terrorists. Eve must solve this mystery before the whole country gets affected!
