This is a wonderful series! It's good to collect them and read them in order but not necessary to enjoy these books. The characters are fun and so likeable you will think of them as friends. The plot is well developed and the pace is excellent. Definitely a page turner!!!

I love the series and the recipes. Decided not to make home made dill pickles after finding out the difficulty and time required.

If you enjoy this China Bayles series, check out the other series Albert has written. "The Cottage Tales of Beatrix Potter" and the series written with her husband Bill, as Robin Paige. The last is a historical mystery series. One of my favorite authors!

China Bayles is in a pickle. The daughter of her best friend Ruby has turned up on her doorstop. pregnant and in need of a place to live. And her otherwise sensible husband McQuaid has announced that he's bored with teaching--he wants to try his hand as a private eye. His first client is Phoebe the Pickle Queen . . . but just days before the annual Picklefest, the Pickle Queen disappears. It's up to McQuaid and China to search for the Pickle Queen--and for clues in a case that promises to leave a very sour taste.

Another China Bayles winner! Ya don't know who dun it until the last chapter and you place the blame for the crimes on different people as the storyline progresses...
