Book Description:
1813, Regency England. Lucius White is the oldest living vampire in the world—a powerful, shape-changing upyr. But for the last several hundred years, his life on Earth has paled to mere existence. He needs little and feels less...

Then a chance roadside encounter gives him the opportunity to assume a mortal identity, and Lucius experiences the throb of human hungers with an intensity he can't remember having felt before. Taking on the guise of a prosperous—if eccentric—local squire, he becomes a tempting prize for local matchmaking mamas. His attempts to evade them lead him to a most unsuitable object of desire: poor but spirited Theodora Becket. Far too attracted to conform to the expectations of polite society he uses his vampire thrall to bring them both indescribable ecstasy. Soon, despite a thousand years of ennui, Lucius is ablaze, an impossibly powerful upyr in love. The question then becomes, can any woman trust a man whose passion can't withstand the light of day?

Holly's demon series mixes contemporary themes with a historical background that exudes eroticism in all its magnificence and glory. Don't miss this one... Lucius is one sexy beast. ;)

Not as steamy or exciting as I usually like but it was a good story and had some different insights into what it is to be 'upyre'.

A rather fun romp in Regency times with a powerful, shape-changing upyr. I enjoyed the story and characters. However, in my opinion these are not vampires, at least not in the traditional sense. I think I'd have enjoyed it more had the vampires actually been vampires.

Let me preface by saying I am not a huge Emma Holly fan but I have read probably three of her books. Even for me, she gets wayyyyy out there (and I ready Jaid Black so it's tough to offend me). This is a historic erotica, more of a romance line but the hero is pretty alpha if that is what you are looking for. I own this one and I'll probably keep it. I enjoyed the other two in this series as well.

Good read! More historical than I have been reading but an interesting plot. First book of her Upyr series that I have read but will definitely look for more!

Ok read for a rainy day. Latest book on the Upr series regarding shapeshifters. Not one of Holly's better plots.

IF YOU CAN GET THE WHOLE SET TO READ, IT WILL KEEP YOU ON YOUR TOES AND PINS AND NEEDLES. A VERY GOOD READ. WILL NOT SAY ANYTHING ELSE, FOR I DO NOT WANT TO GIVE THE STORY LINE AWAY.
