Being a huge sudoku fan, I thought I'd really enjoy this mystery. Unfortunately, I struggled to get through it. I liked the puzzles that were included, but that's about all. The story bored me and I didn't like the characters. I don't think I'll bother reading the second book.

I love number puzzles, and I love cozy mysteries, so I figured I'd give this one a try.
The characters are interesting, as is the premise. I thought the author could have developed the story a little deeper - things got "thinner" as the book progressed, until, at the end, I felt like she "glossed over" some ....
Still, if book #2 presents an equally intriguing puzzle, then I think the series will have promise ...

So I thought a book combining two things that I love to do (read and sudoku puzzles) would be awesome. I have to admit though, I was torn. The story was moving along when the author went to a sudoku solving tournament, I didn't know what to do. Keep reading or stop and solve the puzzle in the book? I ended up continuing to read and doing the puzzles once I had finished. The story fits the guidelines for a cozy mystery, but there is not much character development and I felt that the ending just sort of happened rather than a suspenseful leading up to it. I will probably read the next book in the series, it went quick and did make my brain work a little, but it was not the great revelation in novels that I had hoped for when combining sudoku with reading.

This was a cute cozy mystery about sudoku puzzles. It jumped around a bit and the character development was a little flat. It read like someone's first novel. Hopefully as the series progresses some of these kinks will be worked out. I really enjoyed the sudoku tips.
