Excellent story written with amazing detail of the life of the Senecas. Captivating enough for an 8 year old and a 40 year old!

A fictional retelling of the experiences of twelve-year-old Mary Jemison, who after being captured by a Shawnee war party during the French and Indian War, is rescued and subsequently adopted by two Seneca sisters with whom she ultimately chooses to stay.

In 1758 12 year old Mary Jemison was captured by Indians from her Pennsylvania farm. She lived, very usefully, for the rest of her life with these Indians. This is the story of her early years with her captors, who became her people.
