I really enjoyed this collection of short stories. Almost every one of them left me wanting to know the next chapter in that woman's life but were satisfying. Very well written and a good book for lunchtime/breaktime reading when you don't have oodles of time to read.

a collection of 22 stories... They leave a lasting impression on your mind. Each story is based on a particular area in London -- Notting Hill Gate, Holland Park, King's Cross, etc. -- and the stories, from a compulsive shoplifter to a woman's affair with a married man, are poignant, lucid and memorable

As usual Maeve Binchy does a great job with descriptions of characters and
telling their store.
Read it in a couple of days. Just wanted to keep reading!!!

Binchy's characters throb with life. She has a sharp eye and warm heart. She is wise, gentle and compassionate. Wheter it's the sudden snapping bonds betwen lovers or shopping on Oxford Street, Maeve Binchy finds the unexpected truth in experiences so real that every woman will recognize them.

A great summer read! Maeve Binchy, as always entertaining - this seemed like a series of short stories, with a cohesive undercurrent. Highly recommended!

Maeve Binchy is one of my favorite authors. A bit different from some of her other books. Briefly introduces several characters instead of indepth on a few. But still a good book.

This is a book of 22 stories about people from Ireland moving to London. As usual, you get caught up into the lives of her characters.
