Book Description:
Returning to the 13th century during the treacherous reign of King John, Canham completes her "Robin Hood" trilogy ("Through a Dark Mist" and "In the Shadow of Midnight") with the tale of Robin Wardieu d'Amboise's sister, the fiery archer Brenna, and mysterious mercenary Griffyn Renaud de Verdelay. Lady Brenna Wardieu usually doesn't conduct herself in a lady like manner at all. In fact, Brenna would rather shoot an arrow straight into a tree instead of into a man's heart. This is evident when she makes it clear to a trespasser on her father's land that she would just as soon put an arrow through his heart than let him take another advancement towards her. The stranger concedes to letting himself be captive to this lovely and spirited young woman, until they reach the castle and her father's presence. Griffyn Renaud de Verdelay could have any woman in all the land that he wanted. However, he is on his own mission which doesn't involve getting caught up in a woman's fancy. Although Brenna is quite pleasing to the eye, he has his own battles to win before he can truly give his love to another. Brenna doesn't know what to think when she finds Griffyn Renaud accepted by her brothers and welcomed by her family. She doesn't trust him and she's going to make sure that she keeps her eye on him at all times. As she makes her own plans Renaud also makes his, but neither can help the fact that they continually find themselves defending each other in battle. Before long they come to realize their goal is mutual, and that working together for the good of their cause may be the only way to flesh out a murderer, and a traitor in their midst. Marsha Canham will send an arrow straight through your heart and send this book straight for the keeper shelf! Ms. Canham can weave a tale of adventure that is all too rarely seen between the pages of a book! The Last Arrow, aims for the heart and Ms. Canham doesn't miss! -- Pamela James, Literary Times

I can't say enough good things about Marsha Canham. She is, without a doubt, my favorite historical romance writer. The Last Arrow is the third book in her Robin Hood trilogy, and as difficult as it is to choose a favorite, this one is probably mine (all three are fantastic). Griffyn Renaud de Verdelay is a dark and troubled hero with a past - and a couple of pretty big secrets. When he meets Brenna Wardieu, daughter of Lucien and Servanne Wardieu (the main characters from book one) the tension between them is immediate and electrifying, and while their encounters are always sexually and emotionally charged, you're never quite sure if at least one of them is going to survive fully intact.

This plot has more twists and turns than any other romance novel I've ever read, and they keep coming right up to the very satisfying end. The secondary characters are strongly written without being intrusive to the love story, the villains truly repulsive, evil people, and the main characters, while not perfect, are worth caring about and cheering for. In short - it's a keeper.

I read this book without knowing it was part of a series and enjoyed it and didn't feel like I was missing a huge story. Now that I know there are 2 earlier books, I'll go back and enjoy those as much as I did this.

Originally grabbed thinking it would be mindless, dumb braincandy, I was thrilled to discover a marvelously written, plotted and characterized novel. The love scenes were probably the most effective I've ever read.

Outstanding medieval romance based on robin-hood myth. Definitely going into the "keeper" pile. Very sensual and lots of action/adventure. Griffyn aka "prince of darkness" is an exciting hero. Also loved Robin's sister, Brenna. Lots of action and plot twists. Very steamy.

In a perilous era, when King John fears his barons revolting or a legitimate heir threatening his throne, Robin Wardieu d'Ambroise and Brenna his sister are sworn to protect the lost Princess of Brittany and hold the kingdom's fate.

Griffyn Renaud de Verdelay has been hired to kill Robin. As a mercenary who earns a living fighting in tournaments, Griffyn will do his job, but once he suspects that they are all pawns in a deadly game, his honor wars with his duty.

Once Griffyn and Brenna meet, the tension is palpable. She is both drawn and repelled by the dark knight. When she discovers Griffyn is the infamous "Prince of Darkness," she will sacrifice all to prevent his meeting Robin on the field at the great tournament.

The searing passion that blossoms between Brenna and Griffyn continues to grow as they are drawn deeper into a nefarious plot that leads from Normandy to Nottingham and into Sherwood Forest where the last extraordinary secret is yet to be revealed.
