I'm in love with Jack Reacher! Great book, as usual, with Jack at his best. Highly recommend that you start reading this series of Lee Child books.

I love the Jack Reacher character. A man who lives by a personal code. Lots of action, and a great story. The story is written in such a spare but powerful way. I can hardly wait to start the next Jack Reacher book!
Another great Jack Reacher story... Exciting and suspenseful. I've read a handful of these books, and Reacher is quickly becoming one of my favorite literary characters. I can't wait to read the rest!

Let me start out by saying that I really enjoy Lee Child's writing, and totally have a crush on Jack Reacher. I've enjoyed all of his books to date. I was excited to get into this book and see what Jack's next adventure was. But by the 3rd chapter, I realized this was one I was just not going to enjoy. There was something.....off... about this book. I can't really put my finger on it, but it's almost as if a really really big fan of Child's took it upon themselves to write a book about Jack Reacher but never quite got to the author's level.
The storyline was great, but the characters had no depth to them, and even Reacher's character seemed two-dimensional. The background of the story and why Reacher agrees to help the DEA with an investigation is so drawn out it's like pulling teeth, and you get nothing until the 2nd half of the book.
Reacher thought too much, overreacted or didn't react at all, and just mainly annoyed me, which has never happened. He fell flat all around and it's like the author lost that part of him that taps into Reacher.
I'm hoping it's just a fluke, because I've read all of Child's books but the newest one and everyone is entitled to a stinker now and then. And this one was it for me.
First book I've read of this author/series. The main character, Jack Reacher, is best described as Spenser without Hawk or Susan (or a permanent home or any belongings beyond the clothes he's wearing). It was hard to put it down.
