Book Description:
She’s not Miss Marple. Her friends are no Charlie’s Angels. Nevertheless, 75-year-old Gladdy Gold and her gang of eccentric Fort Lauderdale retirees are out, about, and hunting down a killer–one who is silently stalking them.

Selma Beller was the first to go–but Gladdy and her neighbors never suspected murder until another of their friends died in an eerily similar way. Now a handsome young detective won’t listen to them, Hy Binder won’t stop telling them dirty jokes, and crazy old Greta Kronk is doing everything humanly possible to make herself into a suspect. But amid the endless rounds of poolside kibitzing, early-bird specials, bittersweet memories, and interminable grocery-shopping trips, Gladdy and her gals are about to discover how the murders are being committed. And when it comes to catching this culprit–time really is running out….

Nice fast read. A little slow at the beginning but got better. Someone is murdering the nice old lady's at Lanai Gardens, an apartment complex in Southeast Florida and it happens the day before their birthday's. Everyone wants to believe it was from natural causes. Gladys Gold thinks differently, she believes they are being murdered. Now she has to make everyone including the police believe her.

A cozy mystery with a slightly different twist...the mystery solver is an spry, elderly woman in a Florida retirement community. Plagued by "senior moments", arthritis and a kvetching circle of biddies, she still manages to outwit the bad guy. Pretty funny and nicely written. The Yiddish glossary provided is a nice touch.

75 year old Gladdy Gold and her friends begin to suspect murder when two of their neighbors die of heart attacks…or did they? But the police won’t take them seriously so Gladdy sets out to uncover the truth.

A terrific debut mystery from author Rita Lakin. Gladdy and her feisty and funny gang of retirees are loads of fun. Great plot, wonderful characters and loads of laughs. Can’t wait to read more from this enjoyable author.

Cute debut cozy mystery. Plot may be weak but characters were realistic and humorous and made for fun, light read.

Cute story in the mystery genre that has a cast of seniors as real characters! Kind of reminds you of the "Golden Girls" (main character is Gladdy Gold....hhmmm, I wonder...)!

First in a series and a very easy read!

Senior citizen Gladdy Gold, her sister and her group of senior friends, live in a Fort Lauderdale, FL apartment complex where one by one, residents have been dying off, and not by natural causes. Gladdy and her friends start to believe it's murder and begin their own investigation that is both terrible in its findings and comical at the same time.

I loved this first Gladdy Gold mystery by Rita Lakin. Some of the characters I got to know a little better than others, but the book was enjoyable and the whodunit was a nice little twist. I'm definitely going to read the next in the series.

This was a very sweet book. The characters all live in a retirement community in Ft. Lauderdale and they are all Jewish. A lot of ethnic humor. I live in South Florida and there is a lot of "retirement community" humor in the story. Although it is a murder mystery, there is not the blood and gore. A very quick read. I will post this book today.
