At first, I wasn't sure if I wanted to read this one after the lead characters had sex within the first few pages of the book, which left me a little disturbed since the girl was only 13 and the guy was somewhere in his mid 20s (I don't think the book ever specifies) and knew he had committed statutory rape.

However, if you can deal with that part and keep reading, since the girl's sort of an alien anyway and there is nothing else perverse about the relationship, it becomes workable in the story the further you read on. It does become a quite fascinating story and hard to put down, though there is a lot of adult content regarding things of a sexual nature, so perhaps the book was written by a couple of pervs after all. If you're already a fan of Anthony and are familiar with his writing style, you won't be too shocked. I'm not familiar with Farmer, so I can't comment there.

I did find the character Jack a bit of a contradiction at times, since he did tend to figure a lot of things out by over-analyzing situations, but then misses some of the most obvious thing. I won't spoil anything by saying what, but if you read the book, you'll know what I mean.

Overall, it's a good read. A must for fans of the authors and a recommendation for fans of action sci-fi.

My husband liked it but not enough to recommend it to me. He has lots more opportunity to read than I do so he reads books first and then says if I should add it to my HUGE TBR or not.

This book has the quick pace that has Anthony's signature all over it. Having read much from both authors I needed to get a look at this one. A quick read and a fantastic plot and setting.
