Misty L. (This is one of McCaffrey's best works! And THAT is saying a lot!
absolutely awesome SF fantasy. hijacks the reader right along with Chris from denver..the self sufficient, adveturous main character.
An excellent book by Anne McCaffrey (of the Dragonriders of Pern fame) which is set in another part of the universe and nary a dragon in sight. Themes? Hmmm....survival against poor odds, working with what you're given, always striving toward freedom (instead of enslavement), getting along with those who are Other and Alien.....take your pick. Of course, with a bit of sex thrown in too! The first book is based on a short story she had published in a volume of short stories called: Get Off the Unicorn. While I liked the series as a whole, I'm not in *love* with it (read it when it was new and haven't picked it up again). I'm in the process of moving so I'm reducing the numbers of books to transport.
