At first I wasn't sure if what I was reading was Adult or Children's Fiction, but as the book progressed I realised it didn't matter. I'm now looking forward to reading the rest of The Adept series.
Would recommend this to anyone.

This is actually more of a detective story in a fantasy setting but it's a well crafted story and a good read as well.

"He is Sir Adam Sinclair: nobleman, physician, scholar, Templar mage--Adept."
Great High Magic and murder story!
This is book 1 in the series. I have four of the books in this series listed--or did at the time of this listing. They do stand alone though.
Books I have listed in the series are:
The Adept #1
The Adept: The Lodge of the Lynx #2
The Adept: The Templar Treasure #3
The Adept: Death of an Adept #5

More than a doctor, more than a detective...He is Sir Adam Sinclair: a nobleman, physian, scholar - and an Adept. A man of learning and power, he practices ancient arts unknown to the twentieth century.
His mission - to protect the Light from those who would tread the Dark Roads. Now his beloved Scotland is defiled by an unholy cuilt of black magicians who will commit any atrocity to achieve their evil ends...even raise the dead.

First in the Adept series; this book has Adam Sinclair taking on an unholy cult of black magicians who have a malevolent agenda, including raising the dead.
