Book Description:
Deep within Syndicate World space, the Alliance fleet continues its dangerous journey home under the command of Captain John "Black Jack" Geary - revived after a century spent in suspended animation. Geary's victories over the enemy have earned him both the respect - and the envy - of his fellow officers... "Black Jack" Geary has made many risky decisions as commander, but ordering the Alliance fleet back to the Lakota Star System where it had nearly been destroyed by the Syndics has his officers questioning his sanity. It's a desperate gamble that may buy Geary just enough time to prepare for the Syndics' inevitable return - and give the fleet a fighting chance of survival. But even as he struggles to stay one step ahead of the enemy, Geary must face conspirators within his own fleet - an unknown number of officers who want a change of command. And Geary knows that his fleet must stand together or the Syndic forces will tear them apart...

OK Book #4 Valiant from "The Lost Fleet" This is probably the best book of the series so far... And i failed to mention it in the other reviews, there is enough information given by the author so these books could stand alone but it makes is more enjoyable to read it as a series. Where any of the other books lack this book makes up for. Starting out with a Serious big battle, one that could destroy his fleet that is trapped behind enemy lines. The Alliance Fleet under the command of John "Black Jack" Geary continue the story and the author continues to expand the storyline drawing in the information that there could possible be a non-human alien race at work here keeping the two human sides fighting a neverending war. A war it seems that after 100 years of fighting that neither side is any closer to winning. But is the unknown alien picking sides or is it just trying to even the scales? Now if space battles, unknown aliens and an enemy that doesn't trust anything thats said to them after years of propaganda and fear, isn't enough then add a struggle with unknow conspirators in his own fleet viaing for command of the very fleet he has brought this far through enemy territory. This author has combined enough action into this book to keep the reader turning the pages. Enjoy !

After meandering, imo, in book 3, Campbell[whose real name is John Hemry] kicks back into gear and gives us more of what we want.

Exciting space battles, traitors, Honor to enemies, Love and aliens! All this in spades. This book was much more fast paced and reminded me of book 1. Good stuff.
