I love Charlotte MacLeod and the characters she has created with Sarah and Max. They are down to earth, real people. In this one Cousin Theonia reads the tea leaves and finds.....something bad is on the way! Who is trying to sabotage the Recycling Center? What will happen at the Charity Ball? Who is trying to blacken the Kelling name??? Will Sarah and Max find answers to all the questions? Of course they do!!

One of MacLeod's witty cozy series feturing Sarah Kelling and Max Bittersohn; pleasant, quick read. Not as good as the Peter Shandy series, but nice nevertheless.

I haven't read anything by this author before but I will be looking for more of her books. Very enjoyable. It was subtly funny with many quirky characters and a good mystery. It has a style similar to the Grace and Favor mysteries but it's set in the 1980s.

#7 in the Sarah Keeling series: Sarah and Max have joined with the rest of the Kelling clan to plan a black-tie charity auction. But just before the big event, one of the Centre's members is murdered, and an examination of the will points the finger of suspicion at the Kellings. To make matters even worse, another corpse pops up in the garden shed on the night of the ball. So who wants to sabotage the Centre and pull down the Kelling name?
SArah and her husband, Max, have joined with the rest of the Kelling clan to plan a black-tie charity auction: great uncle Frederick's extensive colledctio of antique knickknacks and whatnots are to be sold, the proceeds going to find theh Senior Citizens Recycling Center. All goes smoothly until tea is served, and Cousin Theonia find a premonition of somthing nasty in the leaves.
