Book Description:
Lod Airport, Israel: Two Concorde jets take off for a U.N. conference that will finally bring peace to the Middle East. Covered by F-14 fighters, accompanied by security men, the places carry warriors, pacifists, lovers, enemies, dignitaries - and a bomb planted by a terrorist mastermind. Suddenly they're forced to crash-land at an ancient desert site. Here, with only a handful of weapons, the men and women of the peace mission must make a desperate stand against an army of crack Palestinian commandos - while the Israeli authorities desperately attempt a rescue mission. In a land of blood and tears, in a windswept place called Babylon, it will be a battle of bullets and courage, and a war to the last death.

Nelson DeMille is an incredible writer! This book of suspense is not only well written and a major page-turner, but I was surprised to find myself learning so much about ancient cultures (like Babylonia) while reading it! The book is about two jets that take off from Isreal for a U.N. Conference to bring about peace in the Middle East. The planes are both loaded with bombs, unbeknownest to the passengers. They are forced to crashland in the middle of the desert and then try to defend their lives against the terrorists that come to get them. Amazing suspense!

Palestinian fighters hijack 2 Concorde jets and foul peace talks again. The fight for survival, history of the Middle East and world politics make this an exciting read.

Solid thriller about a hijack attempt that evolves into a ground siege pitting terrorists against civilians in a military-style stand-off.

More similar to Demille's Cathedral than to his recent novels.

3 stars out of 5
