Book Description:
Do you have back, neck, or shoulder pain that keeps recurring or won't go away? Does back pain keep you from living a full life? If so, you may be suffering from TMS (Tension Myositis Syndrome)—and you don't have to take it anymore!
Dr. John E. Sarno is a medical pioneer whose mind-body approach has helped patients overcome their back conditions—without drugs or dangerous surgery. After indentifying stress and other psychological factors in back pain, he demonstrates how many of his patients have then gone on to heal themselves without exercise or other physical therapy. With case histories and the results of in-depth mind-body research, Dr. Sarno describes how patients recognize the emotional roots of their TMS and sever the connections between mental and physical pain.

I suffered from sciatica for about 4 months and i read Mr. Sarno's book and it seriously helped me. It teaches you the concepts about mind over matter. It teaches you about your body and what it can withstand. If you're suffering from sciatica (I was literally couch ridden for months) this book is for you.

This book changed my life. After years of chronic pain I have been pain-free for over four years. Dr. Sarno has a lifetime of experience treating patients and has written with great compassion, insight, and authority. His explanation of the syndrome he calls TMS is clear, understandable and practical. I highly recommend the book to anyone who has "tried everything" and who is open to a new approach.

This book was recommended to me. It deals with the psychology of back pain ... in other words, it's more than a physical problem.

This book was a good one for a scientologist. The author explains how most pain is interpreted as a thought, not so much an actual feeling. If you can believe in what the author (Dr. John Sarno) is trying to explain, then I would suggest this book, otherwise, it is not something for a person who has real pain and is seeking treatment.

If you're suffering from chronic pain, but physicians haven't been able to accurately pinpoint the cause, read this book. It can be life-changing. What have you got to lose?
